Wild West End

A WILD WEST END PROJECT

Greening Wingrove & Arthur’s Hill is looking to get funding for a nature-based project in our area.

It will focus on community actions to protect and strengthen ‘at risk’ species (eg birds such as swifts, house martins and sparrows, as well as bats, hedgehogs and bees) in the streetscape and green spaces of Arthur’s Hill and Fenham.

The project is also meant to bring people together from different ethnic backgrounds, and will enable the wider community to gain new insights and skills in nature conservation in inner-city and suburban settings. Funding is being sought from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

We’ve already had some good support for the idea from the City Council’s Ecology Officer and our MP, Chi Onwurah, but if any of our members and friends have ideas to suggest, or would like to be involved from this early stage, do get in touch via nigeltodd@phonecoop.coop.
