Party In The Park
The Nuns Moor Park four-day circus spectacular is finishing on a high today, with a grand Party In The Park.
Gates open at noon for this family-friendly event to which all are welcome. It continues the big top carnival theme started on Thursday, with a number of circus skills workshops which can be joined up to during the day. The day rounds up at 4pm.
According to the Met Office, the weather should be mainly sunny, with an occasional light shower perhaps. Temperatures are set to reach a comfortably warm 16˚C.
There will be live music from local talent and rising star, Kema Kay (of I, Daniel Blake fame). There will also be performances from a number of other local artists, including Kay Greyson, Rex Regis, Provident Band, Zombie Killers and the magnificent SHE Choir.
For the children, there will sports and games, organised by local charitable company Hat-Trick. There will be kite-making workshops, facepainting, balance bikes and a forest school. Craft stalls, food-growing sessions, free plants and ‘upcycling’ workshops will also be on offer. If you end up getting a little hungry with all that activity, the park’s outdoor pizza oven will be serving fresh food throughout the day.
Entry is free. Children must be accompanied adults.
There will be an official Greening Wingrove photographer at the event, so check back here tomorrow to have a look at some of the pictures. A Photo Gallery from the last Nuns Moor Park Spring Event is still available on this website and can be viewed here.
The event has been organised by Greening Wingrove, with the help of scores of local volunteers from Arthur’s Hill, Fenham and Wingrove areas of the city. Local charities, CHAT Trust and Time Exchange have been centrally involved and the event has been supported by the Workers Educational Association (WEA), Lottery Fund and Newcastle City Council.
