What’s on at Greening Wingrove!

Working with local Schools

Schools Work

The heart of each community is its local schools.  With school children accounting for around 10% of the Wingrove ward, children play a key role in the community.  They are the future of the community and will help us to make positive changes.

The W.E.A. Greening Wingrove Project is putting together a schools programme that will be delivered at primary schools in the Wingrove area.  The schools project will teach children about their local community and raise awareness of environmental issues – both local and global.  There’ll be fun and interactive learning on energy, waste, recycling, composting, transport, food miles and much more.

Whilst delivering lessons in the primary schools, we will be helping to get children more involved in Greening Wingrove.  We will be sending information home so that parents can also benefit from the project, find out what’s going on and get involved.  We would love to work with parents who are interested in the project and will be looking to develop an adult based environmental course in partnership with the Workers’ Educational Association.

We believe that the best way to tackle some of the problems we face in the community is by working with the children.  Children can make a huge contribution in their community, and can learn new skills and gain confidence.  In the schools, we are hoping to have a blend of classroom and outdoor lessons that will enthuse the children and get them thinking about their local communities.
