The Bike Garden in Nuns Moor Park – November Update

It was a fun October at the garden. 400 visitors helper us to celebrate Apple Day and as 30 visitors decorated pumpkins and made masks for Pumpkin Day we were lucky to have a storyteller and ukulele player entertain us with spooky, funny stories. We planted over 100 daffodil bulbs to for some early spring food for pollinators, with helpers young and not-quite-so young. The scouts helped do a massive garden tidy up and dug a more fruit beds.

It’s been a fairly mild autumn with some flowers and bees still spotted at the garden. As the weather gets colder now and growth slows down, it’s time to get busy in the garden, digging and planting fruit bushes and trees before the ground freezes too hard. See details of a Tree Plant too. We’ve been helping a new Friends of Nuns Moor Park group get started, providing gloves, spades and cups of tea. If you would like to volunteer just come along on the open days below or contact Andrew via ateasdale@wea.org.uk.
