Growing In Small Spaces
Free ‘street meet’ event, looking at how to grow tomatoes, chillies and squashes, and what plants to put in between them.
It is the first in a series of five ‘street meet’ events organised for the summer by Vertical Veg, local residents and organisations, designed to help people start growing their own vegetables at home, no matter how small a space they have.
This evening’s event will take place at the junction of Chelsea Grove and Westgate Road (opposite Mill Lane) NE4 5NN, starting at 6pm. All are welcome, but children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
You will get the opportunity to learn from the experiences of other local residents, and be able to take away free plants and seeds to grow at home. Organisers ask that people bring along any spare plant pots or seed trays, as these will help them reduce costs of delivering the project and make best use of available resources. Donations are welcome.
Vertical Veg has been running in the Wingrove and Arthur’s Hill area for the past four years and proved to be one of the most popular activities sponsored by Greening Wingrove.
Come and find out what it’s all about.
The next ‘street meet’ will take place outside 24 Curtis Road at 6pm on 21 June and will look at growing your own herbs.
