Fundraiser Café In The Park
Special pop-up café in the park, from food that would have gone to waste.
The café is the brainchild of local resident Eric Siqueiros, who is running a ‘waste less, save more’ campaign in the Wingrove area, to raise awareness about the amount of food we needlessly waste and show alternatives that can save local residents money.
Everything for the eco-friendly mobile pop-up café will be brought to Nuns Moor Park on bicycles, including the kitchen sink.
It will be open from 12-2pm. A special ‘smoothie bike’ will be on location, allowing children (of all ages) to make their own smoothies by pedal power.
All proceeds from the day will go to the Arthur’s Hill CHAT Trust, which provides structured activities for young people in the area. The CHAT Trust is threatened with closure later in the year unless it can find funds to keep its doors open.
If you are a cycle owner, you can even bring your bike with you and get it checked over for free by a Bike4Health mechanic, while you enjoy a snack and a cuppa! Until the end of October, Bike4Health are running regular Wednesday sessions in the Nuns Moor Park Bike Garden, where people can bring their cycles for a free check, any time between 7am and 7pm.
Waste Less Save More is sponsored by Greening Wingrove CIC and Sainsbury’s. To find out more visit the Facebook page.
